Construction Journeyman

We’re hiring a skilled Construction Journeyman to perform high-quality, hands-on work in the field. You’ll interpret plans, execute tasks to spec, and keep the site safe and efficient. The ideal candidate is a craftsperson with strong blueprint reading, layout, measurement, and installation skills who collaborates closely with the foreman/superintendent to deliver excellent workmanship on schedule while meeting OSHA and company safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Perform skilled trades work (e.g., framing, siding, decks, windows/doors, light concrete/formwork) per plans and specs
- Read and interpret blueprints, elevations, and details; verify dimensions and tolerances
- Complete layout (chalk lines, laser levels), cut lists, and precise installations with tight fit/finish
- Maintain strict safety practices: PPE, fall protection, ladder/scaffold use, housekeeping, and equipment lockout
- Execute punch lists, repairs, and quality checks to meet tolerance and finish standards
- Stage materials, perform basic takeoffs, and communicate material/tool needs to the foreman
- Operate and maintain tools/equipment (circular/miter/table saws, nailers, impacts, SDS drills, powder-actuated tools) safely and correctly
- Document daily activities, quantities, and site conditions using mobile apps or paper logs as directed
- Coordinate with crew members, subs, and inspectors on sequencing and site access
- Mentor apprentices and enforce best practices for craftsmanship and safety
- Protect finished work and maintain a clean, organized work area
Must Have
- 3+ years of field experience as a Journeyman or advanced Apprentice in residential/light commercial construction
- Proficient blueprint reading, layout, and measurement skills; able to work from details and shop drawings
- Demonstrated craftsmanship in at least two areas (e.g., exterior siding systems, carpentry/framing, decking, door/window installs)
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety practices; OSHA-10 (OSHA-30 a plus); current Fall Protection training preferred
- Familiarity with plan/document tools and basic jobsite reporting (timecards, daily logs).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work at heights on ladders/scaffolds
- Working knowledge of building codes and inspection expectations; problem-solving mindset and consistent, on-time performance
